Teaser #7 2.0

Friday, September 28th, 2007
So! Now that you got familiar with the images and guessed what they are, let’s see if your guess was close! The first teaser is of a pretty cool Gadgeteer skill called Latchbomb. It allows you to throw a bomb that attaches to the ground, hangs out, and waits until an enemy gets close to it, and then detonates! To make things even cooler, the second tier of it, Shattering Latchbomb, packs it full of shrapnel and flies out from the explosion to give a nice AOE range. Then, of course, what skill is complete without its damage enhancement skill; in this case called Improved Latchbomb.

The second teaser is quickly becoming my favorite Gadgeteer skill. This skill is called Seeking Shot, which allows your ammunition to seek out and find your enemies. The upgrades to this skill are definitely worth it if you plan on specializing in Seeking Shot. The next tier of this skill is called Suppressive Fire, which allows your seeking bullets to stun your enemies giving you a greatly improved ranged advantage! To top it all off, Penetrating Fire allows your Seeking Shot skill to recharge faster and a very helpful damage increase!

Teaser #6 updated!

Friday, September 21st, 2007

Another friendly update from Taylor Balbi.

Well most of you guessed part of it; the skill is indeed Slicing Dervish for Bloodletter! What you didn’t see, are the enhancements! While Slicing Dervish still delivers a powerful blow to multiple enemies, there’s two skills that make it an impressive addition to your arsenal of magical goodness! Introducing the second tier skill for Slicing Dervish, Tempest Slash! With this skill a stunning whirlwind is generated in the wake of Slicing Dervish slowing nearby foes movement as well as attack speed. To top off this tree of whirling power is Swift Dervish which is the haymaker that follows the 1-2 combo! Swift Dervish decreases the mana cost and cooldown as well as increases the length of the tempest and the overall damage you dish out to your enemies! This is definitely a great crowd control skill as well as power packed attack.

Walking and Chewing Gum

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

This is off the official site:

You can do two things at once, but it just takes a bit longer. We are in testing on the big new Zone 2 patch, and are doing our best to do this AND ship Hellgate: London at the same time. We appreciate your patience, and will be posting teasers in the forum often so you can see some of the things we’re working on. Your patience and enthusiasm are awesome and great motivators to us. There is no rest at Flagship and Ping0 until this patch is delivered to you, our beloved testers!

Enjoy :)

Teaser #5!

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

The 5th in the series of Teasers created by Taylor Balbi, this one focuses on the new Bloodletter skill “Blade Breaker”

t has been a few days since the last time I brought you something new and fresh. One of the reasons was my trip up to Seattle to meet with Mythos developers! Now I’m back, and have some fantastic things lined up to show you! Starting off my return is an awesome multi-directional skill called Blade Breaker. This skill isn’t your usual one swing one kill kind of style. The higher you invest in this skill the better it gets visually and in power. You strike the ground with great power causing a shock wave in multiple directions to level any foe that you pass by! There are three tiers of this skill. The first is Blade Breaker; the second is Blade Splinter which does exactly as the name says., When your Blade Breaker strikes an enemy it splits into more lines to deal extra damage! To top off the tree, you have Blade Fan which increases the amount of shock waves cast when using Blade Breaker as well as increasing damage. Here you see the skill in action:

Meeting Mythos

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

Kaiser has updated the official Hellgate London website with some news of Mythos.

Did you know we’re working on another game besides Hellgate: London? Yes, it’s true, and the game is called Mythos. You could say it’s like Hellgate’s little brother; it uses much of the same technology that powers Hellgate: London, and was initially created to serve as a testbed for our online infrastructure.

Thing is, the “game” was so much fun, there was no way we couldn’t NOT make it into a full game and release it. The best part? The game is free to download and play. We’re in Beta right now, but if you’d like to get in on the action, just sign up at the official Mythos website.

Unknown to some, Flagship actually has a Seattle office in addition to our HQ here in sunny San Francisco. We call them the “Nirvana of the Gaming Industry” down here, though they often refer to themselves as Flagship Seattle, or Flagship North.

Many of us (myself included) have never been there, nor met the entire team, so with Mythos making strides in its development cycle, we took a short day trip to meet the team, find out what they’re up, and to visit Bruce Lee’s grave. We took a few photos from the trip and have posted them on our Flickr page. Be sure to check them out!

Stay tuned for some more exciting Mythos news in the very near future. Over and out.

Note that the tall guy in the photos is Mythos CM Candlejack :)

Enjoy :)

Teaser #4!

Thursday, September 13th, 2007

The second teaser today from Taylor Balbi, this one focuses on a new Gadgeteer skill

So I was thinking, the reactions to the new stuff in Mythos have been great. I thought I would give you guys another look into the awesome Zone 2 areas. A lot of talk has been going around in various places, lots of e-mails coming in of people asking for something cool for the Gadgeteer. Well, this one is for all you Gadgeteer fans! Check out the Tesla Widget. This flying drone uses a constant stream of electricity to drain the health of a nearby enemy. To compliment the Tesla Widget, there’s Swift Shock which increases the drain speed and gives a electrical damage bonus. Now if you really want to specialize in the Tesla Widget, there is Prolonged Tesla which increases the life span and the damage of the Tesla Widget by a significant amount! This drone lays down a very helpful amount of damage, mixed with ranged weapon skills of the Gadgeteer, you can count on having the upper hand in any ranged fight you find yourself faced with!

If you notice, you can see some new monsters that you will encounter in the new Zone 2 settings!

Blood Command revealed!

Thursday, September 13th, 2007

The Mythos community manager, Taylor Balbi, has posted his promised description of the teaser posted yesterday, as well as an image of the skills for the “red hand” tree.

It’s about that time again! The time where I release a screenshot and you all stare at it for hours in anticipation.

So, a few people were close, but this skill is pretty unique. A lot of people guessed that it was like corpse explosion from Diablo 2. That’s pretty close, but no cigar! This skill is called Blood Command. A fantastic visual appeal to those who like to see a seemingly overkill of gore. Blood command uses the blood of fallen enemies to create projectiles that seek out foes. Then, if you want to improve Blood Command you can put points into its upgrade skill Blood Hunter which increases the number of projectiles, damage, and speed bonus! In the screenshot you see an Eagle (new monster) getting hit by one of the projectiles and the “bloody poof” of the skill. I think this takes the cake for my new favorite skill in Mythos! There are definitely more teasers to come!
